A disabled northbound truck closed the Dalton Highway in both directions near the south side of Gobblers Knob on Saturday morning, according to Alaska 511.

Gobblers Knob is near Mile 132, about 17 miles north of the Arctic Circle wayside, according to a Bureau of Land Management guide to the highway.

The listing, posted at 9:23 am, said the truck was blocking the road and all lanes were closed. It reported warm, snowy conditions and advised drivers to use tire chains.

Alaska 511 listed a planned reopening of 9:23 pm Saturday, 12 hours after the closure was posted. The listing was last updated at 9:26 am and no longer appeared on the site by noon Monday. It doesn't say when the road actually reopened.

The Dalton is open to the public year-round and is the road to the North Slope oil fields. Winter conditions there can begin as early as August and last through June, and heavy snowdrifts can become impassable even for large commercial trucks, according to the state transportation department's Dalton Highway page, which points travelers to Alaska 511 for road conditions.

On Friday night, a separate disabled vehicle blocked the northbound lane near Mile 86, Alaska News reported.
