Cordova closes Railroad Avenue between Industry Way and Breakwater Avenue over debris
The City of Cordova closed part of Railroad Avenue on Tuesday, from Industry Way to Breakwater Avenue, because of debris in the roadway.
The road is closed until further notice. The city asked residents to stay away from the area and did not say when the road will reopen.
Cordova's harbor-adjacent industrial area, created after the 1964 earthquake, lies west of Railroad Avenue.
State transportation data collected from 2014 through 2017 recorded between 479 and 2,467 vehicles a day on two segments of North Railroad Avenue, according to the Cordova Comprehensive Plan transportation background.
The city posts road notices by email. Residents can sign up through the City of Cordova notice subscription page.
