Coast Guard awards Homer helicopter firm $220,000 for village inspection flights
The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded Maritime Helicopters, Inc. of Homer $220,000 to fly Coast Guard personnel round trip to remote Alaska villages so they can inspect Coast Guard-regulated facilities, according to federal award records posted to USAspending.gov.
Many of the villages holding those regulated facilities have no road connection. Aviation is how federal inspectors reach them.
The contract runs one year, from Aug. 1 through July 31, 2027. It is a call against a two-year Coast Guard blanket purchase agreement for Arctic aviation and maritime transportation, with the work centered on Kotzebue. The Coast Guard competed it under simplified acquisition procedures and received one offer. The award record lists no flight schedule.
It is the second such award this summer. In July it gave the same company $125,000 for western Alaska village facility inspections out of Bethel, running through Dec. 31. That one drew two offers. Together the two come to $345,000.
Maritime Helicopters is based at Homer Airport. The company says it has served Alaska since 1973 and calls itself "an Alaskan owned small business emphasizing safety, professionalism and customer service."
In fiscal 2026 it has taken 35 federal contracts worth about $2.8 million, 31 from the Interior Department.
