The Anchorage Platting Board on Wednesday, Oct. 7, will consider Patrick Whalen's request to combine two lots into one 3.7-acre heavy-industrial parcel at 126 W. 104th Ave. and to give up a railroad easement that never carried track.

The 31-foot strip isn't part of the Alaska Railroad's right-of-way, and the railroad has no objection, according to the application and the Planning Department's analysis. The request would also trim 10 feet from each of three adjoining streets, Cordova Street, West 104th Avenue and West 106th Avenue, leaving them 70 feet wide, which still meets the city's street plan, staff said.

Combining the lots would bring about $10,100 in water and sewer assessments from Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility, and future development could require upgrades to Cordova Street or West 106th Avenue.

The city mailed 72 notices and had received no comments as of the staff report. Staff recommends approval if Whalen resolves utility easements, acknowledges the assessments and records a plat within two years.

The board meets at 6:30 pm at the Loussac Library. Residents can request to testify by phone by emailing [email protected] by 2 pm that day.
