Anchorage Assembly to weigh $77,500 increase to SRW Homeowner's road contract
One winter's ice and runoff would nearly quintuple a Hillside neighborhood's road maintenance contract under a proposal before the Anchorage Assembly.
The administration is asking the Assembly on Tuesday, Aug. 18, to add $77,500 to an indefinite delivery contract with Snowline Alaska for the SRW Homeowner's Limited Road Service Area, raising its not-to-exceed ceiling from $21,450 to $98,950. Those figures are spending limits, not guaranteed expenditures. The municipality awarded the original contract Oct. 23, 2025, running through Aug. 31, 2026. If the amendment and all four one-year renewals are exercised, the total not-to-exceed amount would reach $184,750.
Mayor Suzanne LaFrance's memorandum attributes the increase to "significant road erosion caused by an unanticipated level of ice accumulation" and spring runoff. The SRW Homeowner's LRSA Board of Supervisors requested that the Assembly approve the amendment. Other Anchorage road service areas have sought similar increases, including a proposed $75,000 for Rabbit Creek View and Heights and $213,150 for Birch Tree/Elmore.
A separate resolution would appropriate $15,000 from the service area's fund balance for summer rehabilitation and winter maintenance, effective immediately upon approval.
