Alaska State Troopers arrested an 18-year-old Anchorage man early Saturday after a pursuit topping 100 mph on the Parks Highway in Wasilla. Troopers spiked his pickup's tires before the Trunk Road off-ramp, ending the chase.

Troopers saw a silver 2018 Ford F-150 speeding southbound near Swanson Avenue at about 1:02 am and tried to pull it over, but the driver did not stop, according to the troopers' daily dispatch. The dispatch does not mention a crash or injuries.

He was arrested on six charges: first-degree failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, DUI, refusal to submit to chemical testing, minor operating while consuming alcohol, and fourth- and fifth-degree misconduct involving weapons. The dispatch does not describe a weapon. He was being held without bail at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.

Troopers have reported other high-speed chases in Wasilla recently. On Oct. 4, a 21-year-old Anchorage man drove more than 100 mph after troopers tried to stop him for speeding, then ran on foot, troopers said. In September, a Parks Highway pursuit reached 85 mph and ended in a crash into trees on Susitna Drive.

Charges are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty, the Department of Public Safety notes.
