Alaska EMS Symposium brings 50th year of medic training to Girdwood Nov. 3-7
Emergency trauma technicians, EMTs, paramedics and other emergency clinicians from around the state will gather in Girdwood Nov. 3 through 7 for the 50th Alaska EMS Symposium, hosted by the Southern Region EMS Council. An Alaska Department of Health newsletter calls it the largest EMS training conference in Alaska.
Certification classes and half- and full-day workshops fill Nov. 3 and 4. The conference itself runs Nov. 5 through 7, with 60-minute breakout sessions led by speakers from around the country and by attendees' peers. The exhibit hall at Alyeska Resort is open Nov. 4 through 6, according to the conference exhibitor page.
The nonprofit council, founded in 1975 according to its resource coordinator application, supports local EMS agencies with mini-grants, capital equipment grants, technical expertise and certification training. Its region covers 192,369 square miles and stretches more than 2,000 miles from Cordova to Attu Island, with 100 ambulance and first-responder services, according to the conference website.
Registration is open through Eventsquid.
