AHFC board to vote June 24 on affordable housing award criteria
The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation board will vote June 24 on criteria that determine how the state allocates tax credits and financing for affordable housing developments.
The board will consider a resolution to approve the GOAL Program Rating and Award Criteria, also known as the Qualified Allocation Plan, for use with the Greater Opportunities for Affordable Living program. The criteria govern competition for GOAL resources, which combine Low-Income Housing Tax Credits with other state financing tools.
AHFC materials to the Alaska Legislature report that 157 properties with 5,784 units in Alaska were funded through Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, and an additional 33 properties with 436 units were funded in partnership with AHFC.
Board member Alyse Galvin asked at a prior meeting whether AHFC has set long-term production targets. "In 10 years, we hope to build X amount of units in rural and X amount of units in urban," Galvin said. "Like, are there goals put out there that you have that's your guide?"
The board meets at 10 a.m. at AHFC headquarters, 4300 Boniface Parkway in Anchorage. The meeting will also be available by teleconference and Zoom. AHFC announced that after the June 24 board meeting concludes, it anticipates opening the annual GOAL funding round.
