With classes between 45 and 83, connecting with students is nearly impossible. All the extra things that made Golden View Band special I can no longer provide— jazz band, lunchtime practice sessions, extra help before and after school All gone. Grading has been exceptionally challenging, as even a simple assignment that would take 1 minute per student to grade takes me over 4 hours to complete with 300+ students. On top of that, teaching in an environment where the volume is regularly above 100 decibels for 5 hours a day makes me question how healthy this teaching assignment is on me personally. What I've seen— what I've always thought was my dream school has quickly evolved into a teaching nightmare.
