"So while I understand how the assembly, um, organizes around communities and community needs, Education is a total full community responsibility, and it deserves that every board member, no matter what their zip code is, no matter what our students' zip code is, that we make systems or we create systems that are accessible and are reflective of the needs of every student in the city, not by district."

Nowhere in this ordinance does it mention anything about students, and that concerns me. Because students, the needs of students, the services we provide to students, the system that our families and students function within should always be, um, must be accessible regardless of our students' zip code. So while I understand how the assembly, um, organizes around communities and community needs, Education is a total full community responsibility, and it deserves that every board member, no matter what their zip code is, no matter what our students' zip code is, that we make systems or we create systems that are accessible and are reflective of the needs of every student in the city, not by district. So my fear and my concern is that If we, if we support this ordinance or change in ordinance, we are creating pockets of haves and have-nots. People who have the loud voices will get the— and I've seen this at work in other communities.
