VacTrAK will drop TB test inventory and submissions after 2027 switch

Alaska's immunization program will strip tuberculosis test tracking from VacTrAK once the state switches the system to a new software vendor in mid-2027, the Alaska Immunization Program told providers in its October newsletter Monday. Clinics will no longer be able to manage TB test inventory or submit administered tests through the system. The newsletter does not say where providers should record those tests afterward.

The program also told users to prepare now. Every VacTrAK user and contact, including administrators, coordinators and certifying providers, must have an email address tied to only one person.

VacTrAK is the state's immunization information system. It combines records from different providers into a single record for each patient. Providers must report vaccinations for patients of all ages within 14 days.

Alaska has long struggled with elevated tuberculosis rates compared with the rest of the country, with active case counts climbing well above historical averages in recent years, according to state epidemiology data.

The program's quarterly webinar, scheduled for March 16, 2027, will focus on the VacTrAK changes.
