Kodiak service area board takes up two Lilly Drive complaints
A Kodiak property owner says clogged borough drainage floods his yard. The Kodiak Island Borough Service Area No. 1 Board takes up his complaint Tuesday, Aug. 11, alongside a separate complaint from a neighboring Lilly Drive property.
Jeff Trenery owns 245 Lilly Drive. He wrote in an Aug. 1 complaint that borough-directed road drainage from Eider Street runs uphill through his property, behind his house, then underground into a ditch. "The pipe is only 18 inches and it clogs very often. My yard floods severely due to the clogged drainage ditches/culverts," Trenery wrote. He asked the borough to clean and maintain the drainage.
Jill Wittenbrader filed a separate complaint concerning 285 Lilly Drive. Both complaints appear as New Business on Tuesday's agenda. The board has not decided either one.
Drainage concerns came up repeatedly at the board's Feb. 10 meeting. Minutes from that meeting record concerns about water infiltrating roadways at Balika and Neva Way. Chair Scott Arndt told members that a borough portion of Selief Lane "should never have been approved due to the culvert having the wrong specs."
The board is also scheduled to acknowledge receipt of an Aug. 3 budget performance report. It shows $620,021.95 in revenue and $8,257 in expenses against a $608,000 adopted budget.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Assembly Chambers and takes visitor comments before and after New Business.
