DNR receives three placer mining permit applications

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources received three placer mining permit applications between June 1 and June 3. Two target sites in the Yentna Mining District near Trapper Creek. One proposes operations at Grog Creek in the Valdez Creek Mining District near Cantwell.

The Yentna applications cover Long Creek (APMA A20262971) and an amendment for Cottonwood Creek (APMA A20253040 Amendment #1). The Valdez Creek application (APMA A20263041) targets Grog Creek.

All three applications seek Miscellaneous Land Use Permits, Plan of Operations Approvals, and Reclamation Plan Approvals. DNR is reviewing the applications for compliance with state requirements.

Public comment periods are open for all three proposals. DNR framed the notices as requests for information.
