TCC offers walk-in behavioral health support in Tok after Mukluk Fire
Behavioral health staff at the Upper Tanana Health Center are taking appointments and walk-ins for Tok residents affected by the Mukluk Fire.
The fire started Aug. 17 and destroyed 44 homes before evacuation orders lifted Aug. 29. It burned 7,335 acres and reached 29% containment.
"In the wake of Mukluk Fire in Tok, it's important to remember that support is available. Behavioral health staff at the Upper Tanana Health Center are available to talk with community members on an appointment or walk-in basis," said Tiffany Yatlin, Tanana Chiefs Conference employment and training case manager, in Monday's weekly update.
TCC Wellness and Prevention is holding a Suicide Prevention Awareness Month walk on Thursday, Sept. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. The walk starts at the Chief Peter John Tribal Building Pavilion in Fairbanks and loops to Golden Heart Plaza.
The event includes an opening prayer and a presentation on suicide awareness and 988 resources. It honors those lost to suicide while promoting prevention services.
