State seeks contractors to replace roof and siding on Bryant Army Airfield's Hangar 1

The Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs Construction and Facilities Management Office posted an invitation to bid on Aug. 24 to replace the entire roof and all siding on Hangar 1, Building 47430, at Bryant Army Airfield on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, along with envelope patching, painting and repair. A third-party bid aggregation feed, not the state's own posting, lists the project at roughly $1.7 million, with bids due Sept. 15. The notice describes no operational effect on airfield activity.

The work is separate from a larger push already underway: DMVA's fiscal 2026 budget narrative says a new aviation hangar at Bryant Air Field and a Camp Carroll readiness center drew $148.65 million in federal funds, with construction running from fiscal 2025 through fiscal 2026. The narrative says such projects "bring in federal funds and local jobs to the state."

A separate invitation to bid covers roof and envelope work on Building 47427, following earlier Bryant Army Airfield projects such as a 2022 emergency generator installation at Hangar 1.
