State office closure alerts move to a new system Nov. 1, and users must sign up again
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities will move the state's office closure notifications from GovDelivery to Everbridge on Nov. 1, and current subscribers must sign up again to keep getting them.
The alerts tell state employees and the public when state offices close for bad weather or other reasons. GovDelivery subscriptions will not transfer automatically, the department said in a notice sent Friday. Anyone who wants the alerts must register with Everbridge before Nov. 1.
Registration takes about five minutes and requires a valid email address. Users pick one or more of five regions (Anchorage/Mat-Su, Greater Fairbanks, Kenai Peninsula, Southeast and All Others) and choose email, text message or both. Instructions are posted on the department's Office Closure website.
The change does not affect Alaska 511, a separate DOT&PF service that sends route-specific road condition alerts through its own My 511 account, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety.
