Sitka takes applications through Oct. 31 for electric utility subsidy

Sitka households that qualify for a break on their municipal electric bills have until Oct. 31 to apply, with savings running through all of 2027.

Sitka is accepting applications for its Utility Cost Subsidization Program through that date, according to a public service announcement from the city. Applicants who meet certain criteria qualify for the subsidy. The city said an appointment with the Finance Department may be necessary.

Completed applications and documentation must be physically received by the city by 5 p.m. Oct. 31. Late applications are rejected even if postmarked earlier. Applicants can submit by mail, by email to [email protected], or in person at the Utility Office.

Applications are posted at cityofsitka.com/Subsidization or available at the Utility Office, Room 102 on the first floor of City Hall, 100 Lincoln St. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Finance Department can be reached at 907-747-1859 or [email protected].
