Sullivan and Peltola advance from Alaska's Senate primary, with the count still unofficial
Sen. Dan Sullivan and Mary Peltola both advanced to Alaska's Nov. 3 U.S. Senate general election after finishing atop the state's primary field. The Alaska Division of Elections lists the Aug. 18 results as unofficial.
Counting continues this week. The division's questioned review boards begin their review Aug. 20. Of 18,081 by-mail ballots issued, 7,694 had been received as of election day. All 25,407 early votes issued were returned.
Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., a second Republican, was among the preliminary top four. The Alaska Supreme Court had ruled on June 29 that Sullivan Jr. could appear on the ballot after the Division of Elections moved to remove him.
Sullivan, in office since 2015, is seeking a third term. Peltola held Alaska's U.S. House seat from 2022 to 2025. The Nov. 3 general election uses ranked-choice voting, with the top four primary finishers on the ballot.
Vote totals are not reported here. The division's results pages could not be retrieved for this account, and no campaign comment was obtained.
