Peltola campaign opens grant program for Alaska artists

Mary Peltola's Senate campaign is offering grants to Alaska artists for new work, with applications due August 7 and selected pieces shown in an October 9 auction.

Alaska artists living and working in the state can apply through August 7 for material-cost grants from the Fish Family Freedom Fund, a program connected to Mary Peltola's 2026 U.S. Senate campaign.

Peltola, a former U.S. representative who announced her Senate campaign in January 2026 challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, launched the program under the theme "Protecting Our Way of Life," which highlights the strength, resilience, cultures, and landscapes of communities across Alaska. Only original, newly created work is eligible; existing works are excluded. All media formats qualify. Artists not selected for grants may still submit work independently.

Selected pieces will be featured in campaign exhibits, materials, events, and community outreach, culminating in a public exhibition and auction scheduled for October 9. Grant notifications go out August 10, and the artwork submission deadline is September 25.

"This campaign is about amplifying Alaska voices from every corner of our state, and fighting for our Alaska way of life," Peltola said in the announcement.

Artists can find the complete submission rules at marypeltola.com.
