Cleaning and snow contracts at Anchorage's legislative building go to bid

Two contracts for cleaning and clearing snow at the Anchorage Legislative Office Building, worth up to $121,000 a year between them, will go out for competitive bids within about a year. The Legislative Council approved the last renewal available on each by an 8-0 vote at its Aug. 25 meeting, held in the building itself.

The janitorial contract with Q-1 Services, LLC, whose current term expires Aug. 31, 2026, will run Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2027, at no more than $56,000. The snow removal contract with Kelly Inc., doing business as A-1 Lawn & Landscaping, whose current term expires Oct. 4, 2026, will run Oct. 5 through Oct. 4, 2027, at no more than $65,000.

Procurement Officer JC Kestel put both requests to Rep. Sara Hannan, who chairs the council, in memoranda dated Aug. 7. The Legislative Affairs Agency wrote that it is satisfied with both contractors and will issue new solicitations before each term expires.
