Kilusiktok fire near Koyuk still under investigation a month after discovery

A small wildfire 51 miles northeast of Koyuk remains classified as under investigation more than a month after it was first spotted. The incident record does not identify a cause, a containment percentage or any threat to structures or subsistence-use areas.

The Kilusiktok fire, logged as incident 18037, was discovered June 25 at 8:06 a.m. AKDT, according to the Alaska 511 wildfire incident record. As of an update Wednesday at 11:48 a.m. AKDT, the record lists it at 0.23 acres with moderate fire behavior. That figure reflects the fire's current size in the record, not a month of continuous burning.

The 511 card is a structured inventory entry, not a narrative report.
