Kasilof River guide cited for fishing in prohibited People's Hole
A Washington-based fishing guide cannot fish at People's Hole on the Kasilof River even when his clients can. Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited one for doing exactly that on June 18.
Trever Torppa, 25, of Washington, was contacted by troopers patrolling the Kasilof River near Crooked Creek at People's Hole at approximately 9:56 a.m. Troopers found him fishing for sockeye salmon alongside clients. Per sport fishing special provisions, guides are not allowed to fish in People's Hole, though the restriction does not apply to their clients. Torppa's clients face no charges in the incident report. A mandatory court citation was filed with the Kenai Court.
Charges in Alaska Department of Public Safety press releases are accusations. Torppa is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
