The City and Borough of Juneau reopened Sigoowu Ye Park in Lemon Creek on Wednesday, Oct. 21, after installing chicane fencing at the park entrances. The city said the rails are meant to keep bikes from entering the park, where bikes are not allowed, according to its reopening notice.

The city closed the park Sept. 15, about six weeks after it reopened in early August following a renovation. The city said that after the August reopening it received complaints that reckless riders were frightening and colliding with young park users. Bike use also damaged the new playground surface, and signs reminding visitors of the bike ban were vandalized, according to the city's closure notice. The city said the closure was meant to protect park users and prevent more damage to the playground.

Construction on the renovation began June 5, 2025. It brought new playground equipment, upgraded pathways, landscaping and lighting, designed with public input gathered at a July 2023 meeting. The contractor finished the poured-in-place playground surfacing July 31, and the city announced Aug. 3 that the park was open to the community.

The park is at 5921 Pine Street. The city's Parks & Recreation department said all bikes remain prohibited there. It points riders to the city's two designated bike parks: the Cope Park bike skills park and the recently opened Thunder Mountain Bike Park.
