Homer mayor proposes changes to city budget code, with council vote possible Nov. 9
Homer Mayor Rachel Lord has proposed changes to the city budget code, and the City Council will discuss them Monday, Oct. 26, at a 4 pm worksession and a 5 pm Committee of the Whole meeting in City Hall's Cowles Council Chambers and via Zoom.
The ordinance would amend Homer City Code chapter 3.05, which requires preliminary budget assumptions by the third Friday in September and a budget proposal for the next fiscal year by the third Friday in October.
The posted agendas list the ordinance by title only and allow audience comment at each session.
Homer moved from annual to two-year budgets under this chapter. The current two-year budget sets General Fund spending at about $17.7 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027.
The tentative agenda for the 6 pm regular meeting lists the ordinance's introduction and recommends a public hearing and second reading, when the council could adopt it, on Monday, Nov. 9.
