Homer-based Republican group drops the Homer city election from its reporting

The Republican Party's District 6 unit is based in Homer. It has just taken Homer's city election off the list of races it reports campaign activity for.

The group is still reporting on the Kenai Peninsula Borough election and the state primary and general. Treasurer Kathy Toms filed the amendment with the Alaska Public Offices Commission on Sept. 5 and gave the reason in a single line: "Remove elections that we are not participating in."

Both elections fall on Nov. 3, and the borough ballot carries the Homer assembly seat. So the group is out of one race in its own town and in another, on the same day, for a seat representing the same town.

District 6 is a local chapter organized under the Alaska Republican Party, formed to raise money and collect donations for Republican candidates in the district, which the state party lists as covering Homer, Ninilchik, Kasilof and Kachemak Bay. George Hall chairs it.
