Alaska has drawn $15.72 billion in federal prime awards so far in fiscal 2026, of which $10.72 billion has been paid out. Direct payments account for $6.53 billion, grants $5.82 billion and contracts $3.33 billion. That is about $21,000 for each Alaskan, on the 2017 population estimate the site uses.

Alaska ranks 45th of 56 states and territories, between Hawaii at $16.12 billion and New Hampshire at $14.21 billion. The Aug. 31 snapshot covers 19,608 federal awards, up from 19,036 in the Aug. 25 snapshot, 572 more in six days.

A second view of the same data runs the other way. USAspending.gov's monthly trend data tracks spending where Alaska is the place of performance: it shows $4.13 billion in the trailing three months, down $769.24 million, or 15.7%, from $4.90 billion in the prior three months.

The year-to-date figure keeps climbing anyway, reaching $15.72 billion in the Aug. 31 snapshot, up from $15.39 billion on Aug. 25, because the rollup accumulates rather than nets. Both count work performed in Alaska. One is a rolling three-month window; the other is a running total.
