State of Alaska Marijuana License Transfer Protest Deadline
About this event
The Anchorage Municipal Assembly is considering Resolution AR No. 2026-279, which approves the transfer of municipal marijuana retail license #M10252 from Popeyes Emporium II, LLC to Smoking Joe’s Terps, Co., doing business as House of Nugz. The resolution also confirms the Assembly's decision to waive any protest regarding the corresponding State of Alaska marijuana license transfer (MJ-17c).
The Municipal Clerk’s Office confirmed that the applicant has no outstanding taxes, fees, or fines owed to the Municipality of Anchorage. Furthermore, all required certifications from municipal departments—including Finance, Planning, Fire, Police, Health, and Land Use Enforcement—have been received and approved. Special land use permits required under Anchorage Municipal Code (AMC) 21.05.055 and 21.50.420 have also been secured.
The Assembly is acting within a 60-day protest window following the receipt of the state application on August 11, 2026. With the protest deadline set for October 10, 2026, this resolution is scheduled for the October 6, 2026, Assembly meeting to ensure timely processing. Upon passage, the Municipal Clerk is authorized to notify the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) that the Assembly has no objection to the state license transfer.
