This hike is all about enjoying Alaska’s incredible scenery, getting some exercise, and having fun with a great group of like minded people. Glen Alps Parking Lot Location: Flattop / Glen Alps Trailhead Parking/Lower parking lot closer to TH 13101 Glen Alps Road Anchorage, AK 99516 Parking Information * Parking fee: $5 per vehicle or use a Chugach State Park annual parking pass. * Two parking areas upper and lower lots. Park in the lower parking lot and follow the Powerline Pass Trail west. This is the most direct route to Grey Lake. * Restrooms are available year-round. What to Wear * Sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes with good traction * Moisture-wicking shirt and hiking pants * Warm layer fleece or light insulated jacket * Waterproof rain jacket 30% chance of rain on Saturday morning * Hat and sunglasses What to Bring * At least 1 liter of water * Trail snacks * Bear spray recommended * Trekking poles optional but helpful * Sunscreen and insect repellent * Fully charged cell phone * Camera for the views Group Expectations * This is a group hike, and we’ll hike together. * We will regroup at trail junctions and as needed so no one gets unintentionally left behind. * Please be prepared to maintain the 20-25 mins/mile pace. * If you need to turn around early, let the hike organizer know before leaving the group. Safety * Hike at your own risk. By attending, you accept responsibility for your own safety and well-being. * Wildlife, changing weather, mud, uneven terrain, and stream crossings are all possible on Alaska trails. * Carry bear spray if you have it and know how to use it. * Stay on established trails and practice Leave No Trace principles. Dogs * Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome unless otherwise noted. * Dogs should remain under voice control or leashed where required. * Please bring water for your dog and clean up after them. * Be mindful that not everyone is comfortable around dogs.
