Draft Southeast Alaska Transportation Plan Update Comment Period

About this event

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has initiated a public comment period for the draft Southeast Alaska Transportation Plan (SEATP) Update. This plan is designed to guide transportation improvements across the region over the next two decades, covering diverse modes including roads, ferries, airports, trails, and marine facilities. The update aims to identify regional priorities and inform future funding programs, specifically the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and the Aviation Improvement Program (AIP). The agency is soliciting community feedback regarding local transportation needs, support for specific project recommendations, and long-term infrastructure goals. Public comments are being accepted through October 19, 2026, via the project website, email, or at scheduled open house events. Environmental review and consultation for the project are being conducted by the DOT&PF under 23 U.S.C. 327, following a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) executed on April 13, 2023. The department also emphasizes its Title VI nondiscrimination policy, providing resources for those requiring accommodations or wishing to file complaints.
