Disabilities Expo Day at Alaska State Fair

📍 Alaska State Fair

About this event

The Anchorage Municipal Assembly has introduced AR No. 2026-187 to formally recognize July 26, 2026, as the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The resolution highlights the historical significance of the ADA, signed into law on July 26, 1990, and the subsequent 2008 ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA). The document reaffirms the Municipality of Anchorage's commitment to equality and inclusion as outlined in the ADA, Alaska Statutes, and Title 5 of the Anchorage Municipal Code. It acknowledges the contributions of local organizations, including the Alaska Disability Advisory Group, the Arc of Anchorage, and the Disability Law Center, in promoting these principles. To mark the anniversary, the resolution notes upcoming community events, including the Anchorage Disability Pride Celebration on July 25, 2026, at the Delaney Park Strip and a Disabilities Expo Day at the Alaska State Fair scheduled for August 24-25, 2026. The resolution was passed and approved by the Assembly on July 7, 2026.
