Alaska State Land Auction #498 and #499 - Sealed Bid Period Closes

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced the commencement of the 2026 Alaska State Land Auction #498 and the 2026 Alaska State Agricultural Land Auction #499. Auction #498 includes 152 parcels statewide, while Auction #499 features 19 parcels located in the Nenana-Totchaket and North Fork Micro Ag areas. Both auctions are conducted under the authority of AS 38.05.055. Bidding for both auctions opens on June 10, 2026, and closes on September 30, 2026. Bidding eligibility varies by auction type; Auction #498 is generally restricted to Alaska residents, except for commercial parcels, whereas Auction #499 is open to residents, nonresidents, businesses, and corporations. Sealed bids will be opened and winners announced on October 21, 2026, at the DNR office in Anchorage. Parcels remaining unsold after the auctions may be purchased Over-the-Counter (OTC) starting November 18, 2026. For the first four weeks of the OTC period, parcels will be priced above their appraised value. The DNR will only accept OTC applications online or in person, not by mail. The public is invited to submit comments regarding the auction procedures until 4:00 p.m. on July 15, 2026. Only those who submit timely written comments are eligible to file a formal appeal regarding the auction process.
