DOT&PF opens comment window on Nordic Air's Petersburg hangar lease

A five-year lease extension would keep Nordic Air LLC operating out of Petersburg Airport through August 1, 2031, under a proposal the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities posted for public comment Friday.

DOT&PF proposes to extend the lease on roughly 11,250 square feet at Petersburg Airport for five years. Annual rent is $2,441.25. Authorized uses include maintaining a hangar for Nordic Air's air taxi business, aircraft storage, and fueling of the lessee's aircraft only. The extension relies on a state statute that lets DOT&PF skip competitive bidding on lease renewals, an approach the department says sustains aviation services at rural airports rather than maximizing rent revenue.

Written comments must reach Sharyn Augustine at DOT&PF Statewide Aviation Leasing in Juneau by 4:30 p.m. on July 16. The department will decide on the extension after that deadline.
