DNR opens comment on Hatcher Pass hydroelectric lease through July 29

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources has issued a preliminary decision to grant Fishhook Renewable Energy, LLC both a 30-year non-competitive negotiated lease and a 30-year private non-exclusive easement on roughly 11 acres of state land on Fishhook Creek in Hatcher Pass for a run-of-river hydroelectric project. The applications cover land within Township 19 North, Range 1 East, Seward Meridian, and the public comment period runs through 11:59 p.m. on July 29.

Submitting written comments before the deadline carries a procedural consequence: under state law, only those who submit written comments during the comment period are eligible to appeal DNR's final decision.
