DNR moves to grant Quintillion two Dalton Highway gravel contracts
The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is moving to let Quintillion Networks, LLC extract 30,000 cubic yards of gravel from state pits along the Dalton Highway to support the company's Arctic broadband infrastructure.
Quintillion, which describes itself as "the only company that has built and operates a subsea fiber optic cable system connecting Alaska's Arctic communities to the world," would draw the material from two existing state pits in the North Slope Borough. DNR's Northern Regional Office posted the notices June 23. The larger contract, at Milepost 305, covers 20,000 cubic yards. The smaller, at Milepost 366.5, covers 10,000. Both draw from already-designated pits and are administered under DNR's Material Sales program. Reclamation obligations under state law still apply.
The notices were posted in the Alaska Online Public Notices system. Written comments can be submitted to DNR's Northern Regional Land Office. Haley Evans of the Northern Regional Lands Section is listed as the contact for additional information.
