Cordova opens comment on draft road safety plan through Sept. 1

Cordova residents have until Tuesday, Sept. 1, to weigh in on a draft roadway safety plan that assesses risks on the city's roadways for vehicles, ATVs, bikes and pedestrians.

The City of Cordova posted the draft Comprehensive Safety Action Plan on Friday. The city has been working on the assessment with the Alaska Municipal League. The league runs a Safe Streets and Roads for All program that supports municipalities' readiness for federal SS4A grants tied to roadway safety planning.

The draft is posted online at https://www.akml.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Cordova_SS4A-DRAFT_6.30.26.pdf for review before the comment window closes.

Once the updated plan is completed and approved, the city states, the community will be eligible to apply for and receive certain types of grant funding.
