Coast Guard awards $143.4 million for 30 housing units and child care center at Kodiak ahead of two Arctic cutters
The Coast Guard awarded $143.4 million in task orders to Tutor Perini Corporation for 30 family housing units and a child care center at Base Kodiak, both due to finish in 2028. The first task order, worth $81.8 million, covers 15 duplexes of three- and four-bedroom units plus replacement of the Aviation Hill water storage tank. The second, worth $61.6 million, funds a 22,000-square-foot child development center with an outdoor play area, serving more than 200 children. Fiscal year 2025 budget reconciliation funds the work.
The two task orders complete the Nemetz Park initiative, a 23-acre redevelopment that already delivered 50 housing units in 25 duplexes along with $97 million in infrastructure upgrades.
The buildup supports Kodiak's role as homeport for the first two Arctic Security Cutters, with first delivery expected in 2028.
