Chugachmiut seeks lead researcher for three federal education grants, proposals due Sept. 11

Chugachmiut's Tribal Education Department is taking proposals through Sept. 11 for a senior contractor to run three federally funded projects covering Sugt'stun language revitalization, Indigenous pedagogy, social-emotional and trauma-informed learning, and Indigenous youth community and career development. Chugachmiut is a Chugach region Native nonprofit; Sugt'stun is the Sugpiaq language.

The request for proposals seeks an individual or firm as Principal Investigator and Project Lead. It requires demonstrated experience leading complex federal education projects and knowledge of Indigenous data sovereignty and Tribal research governance, preferring experience with Alaska Native Tribes, Indigenous language education and Education Department grants.

The posting states no value or term. Federal records put the three near $7 million: the $5.8 million Chugach Identity Project runs to 2029, and Indian Education and vocational rehabilitation grants of $437,688 and $783,386 have periods ending Sept. 30.
