BLM sets August 17 deadline to protest Alaska survey plat filings

The Bureau of Land Management Alaska State Office has set Aug. 17, 2026, as the deadline for written protests against survey plats being officially filed in Alaska. Parties who do not file by that date will not have their protests considered.

The deadline comes from a Federal Register notice. Protests received after the official filing date will not be considered. A protest filed after regular business hours counts as received the next business day.

The process is narrow. A protest must identify the specific plat or plats being challenged. A general objection is not sufficient. If a written statement of reasons is not filed with the protest itself, it must follow within 30 calendar days of the protest filing.

How to File

Protests must be filed with the State Director for the BLM in Alaska. They can be mailed to the State Director at 222 West 7th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99513, or delivered in person to the BLM Alaska Public Information Center in the Fitzgerald Federal Building at the same address. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Alaska Standard Time.
