Arctic Slope telecom co-op extends Deadhorse Airport lease at $12,825
Arctic Slope Telephone Association Cooperative is extending its telecommunications lease at Deadhorse Airport for five more years at $12,825 annually plus any associated fees.
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities proposed the extension June 4 for lease ADA-72622, which covers roughly 45,000 square feet at the North Slope airport on Lots 6C and 7A, Block 200. The site supports telecommunications infrastructure including a telephone office, warm storage, vehicle parking, a tower, satellite dishes, and related equipment.
Deadhorse serves as the primary airport for Prudhoe Bay oil-field operations and North Slope Borough communities. The airport hosts an aviation command center used to manage onshore and Outer Continental Shelf operations in the Arctic Ocean and Beaufort Sea.
The lease extension application was filed under Alaska Statute 02.15.090(c), which allows DOT&PF to grant the proposed term extension without competition. Written comments on the proposal must reach the department by 4:30 p.m. July 6.
Arctic Slope Telephone holds a second lease at Deadhorse Airport under a separate agreement. The state proposed extending that lease, ADA-71988, in March at an annual rent of $20,369.
