Anchorage seeks ideas for its Darwin sister-city partnership

Anchorage residents have a few weeks to suggest what the city should do with its oldest overseas partnership.

Darwin, Australia — one of Anchorage's sister cities since 1982 — is putting together a plan for its seven sister-city relationships through 2030, and has asked Anchorage's Sister Cities Commission to send a couple of program or project ideas by Sept. 30. Past efforts have included children's artwork exchanges between the two cities.

Commissioners expect to have a proposal ready at their Sept. 23 meeting, which is open to the public. Residents with ideas can pass them along through the commission's staff, reachable through the Mayor's Office at 907-343-7100; the commission doesn't publish a direct email.
