Tribally owned Anchorage firm wins $10.1 million Labor Department renovation contract

Coho Construction Management LLC, an Anchorage-headquartered firm, was awarded $10,131,954 to overhaul the public meeting spaces at the U.S. Department of Labor's Washington headquarters. The company is owned by the Native Village of Eyak, a federally recognized tribe based in Cordova, through the Copper River Family of Companies. Performance is scheduled to begin September 10 and run through September 9, 2028.

The work covers the auditorium, Great Hall and mezzanine of the Frances Perkins Building. The underlying solicitation, issued in early July as number 1605C3-26-R-00008, was structured as a Total Small Business Set-Aside, meaning competition was restricted to qualified small business concerns. Three firms bid. The award is firm-fixed-price, so Coho absorbs any overrun, and carries a ceiling of $14.3 million if the government exercises every option. The work will be done in Washington, District of Columbia.

The federal record does not indicate where the labor or subcontracting for the two-year Washington renovation will be sourced. Coho holds larger federal contracts elsewhere, including $28 million with the Army and $16.6 million with the Air Force, making this its fourth-largest.
