Anchorage Board of Equalization sets six more appeal hearings Aug. 24-28

Anchorage property owners contesting their 2026 valuations get six more Board of Equalization hearings Aug. 24-28 at City Hall, 632 W. Sixth Ave., Room 310. Sessions run 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 24, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 25, 26 and 28, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 27. The Anchorage Assembly appoints the board's private citizen members to hear appeals over alleged errors in property valuations. The board grew to 21 seats after the Assembly appointed 12 new members March 24, facing a backlog of 1,953 appeals.

A separate municipal review found about 660 homes will receive lower notices. Properties in four neighborhoods had been over-assessed under quality-of-construction grades that were too high. Assessments changed an average of 4.3% this year.

The Feb. 11 filing deadline required a refundable deposit of $30 to $1,000, though Resolution 2026-34(S) opened a path for late appeals.
