Anchorage Assembly takes up next year's budget priorities

The Anchorage Assembly takes up its budget priorities for the coming year Tuesday, along with two appointments to city commissions.

The priorities come from the Budget Advisory Commission and are offered for the Assembly's consideration rather than a vote, an early marker in a budget season the administration has described as tight. "The muni is doing a lot more with less dollars at this point," Assembly member Erin Baldwin Day said in January.

Mayor Suzanne LaFrance is also asking members to confirm two appointments: Cisco Mercado to the Sister Cities Commission and Katherine Cooper to the Budget Advisory Commission, the same body behind the priorities resolution.
