AMATS Policy Committee to vote Thursday on adding $2 million to Tudor Road median project
The Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions Policy Committee is scheduled to vote Thursday, Aug. 20, on adding $2.029 million to Tudor Road's median project between Baxter Road and Patterson Street, raising its total cost from $5.729 million to $7.758 million. It is the project's second increase this year; Modification #7 added $293,000. The funds cover federal fiscal year 2026 design for a center median meant to reduce head-on and left-turning angle crashes. AMATS staff and the Technical Advisory Committee recommend approval, according to a memo from executive director Aaron Jongenelen.
Three other projects change under Modification #9: $250,000 in Highway Safety Improvement Program penalty funds for Mountain View Drive Safety Improvements to design flashing yellow arrows, pedestrian features and a road diet, plus shifts for Anchorage's flashing yellow arrow project and $842,400 for cameras at 82 signalized intersections. The table says the cameras are to improve Anchorage police enforcement.
The four-year Anchorage-area HSIP program totals $43.5 million.
