Alaska seeks bidders for perinatal substance use program, proposals due Sept. 14

The Alaska Department of Health is accepting proposals through Sept. 14 for organizations to run its Access to Perinatal Health Support Program, which funds substance use disorder treatment, recovery support and maternal health services for pregnant and postpartum women statewide.

The Division of Public Health will accept proposals until 3:59 p.m. Sept. 14. Written inquiries are due by 3:59 p.m. Sept. 4. The project period begins Nov. 1, 2026.

The program has $1 million available per fiscal year, or $3 million over three years. The division expects to select four awardees, each receiving at least $250,000 per fiscal year. Full details are posted on the State of Alaska Online Public Notice site.

Earlier Alaska News coverage of a $3 million perinatal substance use grant noted only about 10% of the 937 pregnant Alaskans who needed treatment in 2022 received it, citing barriers including transportation, childcare, stigma and Medicaid coverage loss after birth.
