Alaska Medicaid providers must complete self-audit by Dec. 31
Alaska Medicaid providers have until Dec. 31, 2026, to submit self-audits covering either calendar year 2023 or 2024, the Alaska Department of Health announced Wednesday. The biennial self-audit requirement has been in effect since June 7, 2018, and applies to all Medicaid providers once every two years.
Repayment Process
Providers who find overpayments must follow a specific repayment process. The department said providers must not submit AK-05 adjustment or void forms to HMS. "If your self-audit identifies an overpayment, please DO NOT submit AK-05's (adjustment/voids form) to HMS for processing," the notice said. "Instead, please include a check for the amount of the overpayment made payable to the 'State of Alaska'." The check must be submitted with the self-audit or no later than 60 days after submission. Claims processed through HMS will be voided and denied for timely filing.
Where to Submit
Attestation forms, audit reports, and overpayment checks go to DOH/Medicaid Program Integrity, Attn: Provider Self-Audits, 3601 C Street, Suite 902, Anchorage, AK 99503. Providers seeking more information can visit the Medicaid Program Integrity website at health.alaska.gov or email [email protected].
