I have always believed that leadership is about solving problems, building consensus and delivering results for the people we serve. As House Majority Leader, I worked with colleagues from across Alaska to pass a balanced state operating budget that met Alaska's obligations without drawing from savings. We also secured critical state matching funds to advance public infrastructure projects and that support communities, create jobs and strengthen Alaska's economy. I successfully carried House Bill 239, the Comprehensive Crime bill that strengthens public safety and provides law enforcement and prosecutors with additional tools to combat crime.
I championed House Bill 281, the enabling legislation for the Alaska LNG project, helping position Alaska's vast natural gas resources to provide long term energy security and economic opportunity. I also work to secure passage of House Bill 78, restoring a competitive retirement system for public employees so Alaska can recruit and retain the teachers, public safety professionals, and skilled workers our communities depend upon. My approach has always been guided by respect, accountability, and a commitment to Alaska's future. I believe Alaskans expect their elected officials to work together, manage public resources responsibly, and make decisions that strengthen our state for future generations. It is an honor to serve the people of Alaska.
