Two airlifted from Killey River after boat capsizes seven miles upstream

Two people spent the night stranded on the Killey River after their boat capsized about seven miles upstream, then were airlifted to safety Friday afternoon, Soldotna Wildlife Troopers reported.

Troopers were notified of the capsized boat at 10:09 p.m. on July 9. Both occupants reached shore uninjured. Because they had shelter, food, warm clothing, and a cell phone with service, they stayed on the riverbank through the night in contact with authorities. Troopers located the pair and flew them to Soldotna Airport at 1:39 p.m. Friday.
