Troopers: every Craig and Klawock bar and dispensary checked provided to minors

Every bar and dispensary checked in the Craig and Klawock areas provided alcohol or marijuana to an underage decoy, Alaska State Troopers said. Authorities issued seven infractions.

Troopers and the Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office ran the undercover compliance checks on July 30, using people under 21 years of age. All establishments visited were found to be non-compliant, according to the trooper dispatch. Warnings were provided where appropriate.

Troopers did not name the businesses. The dispatch notes that charges are accusations and that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Alaska law bars anyone under 21 from purchasing alcohol or asking someone else to buy it for them.

AMCO reported 480 licensed premises inspections between April 4 and June 12. The office told its board that enforcement would shift toward communities off the road system for the rest of the summer.
