State seeks bids for Shaktoolik airport maintenance contract

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting bids for maintenance work at the Shaktoolik Rural Airport in the Norton Sound region.

Bids are due by 11:00 a.m. on May 21, 2026, when they will be publicly opened at the department's offices. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Shaktoolik, a coastal village of about 250 people located 125 miles east of Nome, relies on its airport for mail, medical evacuations, and supply deliveries. The village is accessible only by air or boat, with no road connections to other communities.

Contractors can download bid documents from the state's Online Public Notice website. Anyone who downloads the documents must register with the procurement officer to receive any amendments to the solicitation. Failure to register may result in rejection of the bid.

The department will ensure that disadvantaged business enterprises have full opportunity to submit bids and will not discriminate based on race, color, or national origin.

Bidders with disabilities who need auxiliary aids or special modifications should contact the Division of Supply and Services at least 10 days before the bid opening.
